Our favorite spot is the big open and airy covered back deck at Beach Crew Cottage. We designed this space to be an extension of the indoor space – making the poolside outdoor spot like a second living room. We chose comfortable seating here, added an outdoor TV, and there's great visibility to the pool to keep an eye on the swimmers. There's a large gas grill just off to the left – our idea of a perfect afternoon after a day at the beach is to throw some burgers on the grill, put the kids in the pool, and relax in the shade!
The inground pool is one of the larger pool on the island, and it can be heated if you choose ($50 per day). The house comes with four bikes for your use, beach tents/chairs and games galore for kids of all ages - pool toys, indoor/board games, puzzles, books and various lawn/beach games.
A leisurely ~15-minute walk (or ~2-minute drive) takes you past a neighborhood playground and gets you to the Village area. The Village offers the pier, lighthouse, Neptune Park, restaurants, shops, bars, beach access and more. At just over a mile from the house, more substantial beach access at Massengale Park and East Beach are both just a ~5 minute drive away. St. Simons features a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of bike or walking paths, making this home feel accessible to just about everything the island has to offer.
While the home is much larger on the inside than it appears outside, it also retains much of its original historical charm as an island cottage built in 1942. The floor plan offers privacy for those that want to rest while others opt to play games and gather for a great time - fantastic for a small group or large extended/multiple families and friends!
